Class Details

Try something new and join me on Wednesday evenings from 6:30pm-8:30pm and explore the art of silversmithing. During this four-week session from March 26th - April 16th, you will create two projects. 

Project Details:

•  Wide sterling silver hammered ring band 

•  Bezel set cabochon stone pendant.

In this class you will learn the basic skills of silversmithing, including how to use a jeweler's saw and basic sawing techniques in addition to how to shape, solder and file silver while creating these two projects. There will be step by step instruction to guide you along the way as well as side by side demonstrations. 

All materials for the class will be provided. There will be two trays of stones to choose from to make your stone selection.

All you have to do is come and have some fun! Feel free to bring a notebook and take notes if you're a note taker. 

Classes will take place at Hot Shops Art Center in Studio 220 in Omaha, NE.

Class requires pre-registration.

All classes and workshops are non-refundable.

For all classes minimum age requirement is 16.

What to Expect

 

This 4-week class will take you through the very basics of all silversmithing projects; sawing, filing, shaping and soldering.

Safety measures to take prior to and during class include the following: all long hair must be pulled back. Please refrain from wearing scarves and loose fitting clothes, especially long, loose, flowing sleeves.

Hot Shops Art Center is located at 1301 Nicholas Street, Omaha, NE 68102. Classes will take place on the 2nd floor in studio 220. Parking is available on 13th Street. Enter through the large red door with the sculpture on top, then take your immediate right and head up the stairs to the 2nd floor. Studio 220 is in the far back left corner.
