Class Details
Join us on Wednesday evenings from 6:30pm-8:30pm and learn the basic silversmithing skills. During this FOUR week session from February 5th to February 26th.
During this class you will create a bezel set oval stone ring with a wide band. For this project, you may choose to create a tapered band or add a hammered texture to your band.
- All materials will be provided for the class.
- There will be two trays of stones for you to select your stone from for your ring.
- All classes will take place at Hot Shops Art Center in Omaha, NE.
- Minimum age requirement is 16.
- Preregistration is required.
- All classes are non-refundable.
All you have to do is come and have some fun! Feel free to bring a notebook as note taking is encouraged.
What to Expect
In this class you will learn the basic skills of silversmithing. You will learn how to use a jeweler's saw and the basic sawing techniques. In addition, you will learn to shape, solder, file silver and set a stone while creating this ring.
If you have long hair, you will be required to wear your hair back. As a safety precaution, do not wear loose clothing, scarves to anything with fringe of hanging strings as this is a fire hazard.
Directions
Hot Shops Art Center is located at 1301 Nicholas Street, Omaha, NE 68102. Classes will take place on the 2nd floor in studio 220. Parking is available on 13th Street, Izard Street and Millwork Commons parking lot. Enter through the large red door with the sculpture on top on 13th street, then take your immediate right and head up the stairs to the 2nd floor. The studio is in the far back left corner.
